The Ahhichatragarh Fort Nagaur
The Ahhichatragarh Fort, meaning the ‘Fort of the Hooded Cobra’ dates back to 4 AD and has evolved through the Passage of time as a fort and palace Complex. Ahhichatragarh is one of the finest and most extensive examples of Rajput – Mughal architecture in the Marwar Region. The Fort Features a series of painted palaces Mosques, temples, intricate baoris (reservoirs), water Systems, fountains, open terraces and Mughal pleasure Gardens.
Ahhichatragarh Fort has passed from the hands of Mughal Emperors to the Maharaja of Jodhpur, with whom it remains today. It has taken the dedicated Vision of His Highness Maharaja Gaj Singh II of Marwar – Jodhpur, along with Mehrangarh Museum Trust, The Getty Foundation, USA and the Helen Hamlyn Trust, to meticulously renovate and restore the fort over a 20 year period.
It is the Recipient of UNESCO award for pioneering new conservation standards, combing modern scientific techniques with traditional Building Methods.
Ranvas – The Abode of the Queens
Within this Magnificent Fort lies an 18th Century Residence of the Ranis’ of Maharaja Bakht Singh of Jodhpur, which have been meticulously restored to offer elegant accommodation within these 10 Haveli’s. Each Haveli is named after one of the Rani’s. In one of the most well preserved queenly residence guests can have a chance to experience living heritage. This is a heritage property in the purest sense – a regal residence, from which to explore Ahhichatragarh Fort, also simply known as the Nagaur Fort.
During the 18th Century, the ruling Maharaja of the time, Bakhat Singh, sought to create refuge for the external troubles of warfare and politics. The Result was a pleasure palace. Evoking the senses through artistic pleasures: from the sound of water fountain, to vivid fresco Paintings and perfectly constructed geometric gardens.
Today, the Ranvas features a swimming Pool and Two Restaurants. The all day, Baradari Dinning Pavilion serves local Mughal Sufi Cuisine and a host of international dishes to suit your plates. A fine dinning restaurant which offers a la carte menus inspired by the Ranis’ royal kitchens. A dedicated Spa, hammam and Library is also planned.
The Ranvas comprises 33 bedrooms in total, with each Haveli comprising three bedrooms (ranging from Single to Queen sized and Suite level) under one key. Each Haveli features a private courtyard, an outside Living Area, furnished with rare artefacts from the surrounding region.

- Royal Suite located on the top floor of each Haveli. Each suite features a spacious bedroom and private seating area and an open deck.
- Deluxe King – located on the ground floor of each Haveli. Each bedroom features a spacious bedroom and private courtyard area.
- Deluxe Queen – located on the ground floor of each Haveli. Each features Queen sized double bedroom opens onto the Haveli Courtyard and Living Area
- Deluxe Single – located on the ground floor of each Haveli, each bedroom opens onto the Haveli courtyard and living area.
